Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA | A few days ago some mothers I'm related to (mom, sisters, my wife) got to complaining in a post on Facebook that they likely would not be getting flowers for Mothers Day again this year, being that they're in a not-flower-giving kind of family. A friend that is in what is getting to be a long struggle with infertility posted "I'd just like to have a kid..." That ended the complaining.
Maybe your wife should take a moment to reflect on how it would feel to not be celebrated at all today.
