south central IOWA | I just don't know when I want to do it though. Should I sell them as soon as I can as P3's due to start March 15 or wait and calve them out and sell right about May 1 as pairs?
I went to a sale today and the type of cows I have were selling from $1400 to $1800 maybe a hair more for some. They also sold a group of 6 or 7 black/bwf of what I would call "poor condition" cows that had week(?) old calves at side. IIRC they were solid mouth and short solids in this group and the calves were of a mixture of colors. They brought $2700 a piece. I counted 14 people that fell out of their seats!!
Now the next part might need to be on a new thread but my idea is to buy 700-800lb heifer calves and AI them and sell as bred heifers next spring. Am I crazy???
If only I knew someone that could get me a pot load of them Black Angus heifers out of Montana or there abouts. Hmmmmm
