Central South Dakota
Matt originated from fallow country up here in the central & western dakota's. It can be done because we've done it. 1/4 of our acres every year used to be fallow and now its all planted to crop every year. Just takes some planning and commitment.

Edit: I looked up our average yearly rainfall totals Cambridge, Ne listed out at 22 inches/year if the data was correct and our yearly total is somewhere between 18-20 inches, so very similar with the amount of water we have to deal with.
