Subject: Re: Gypsum

South Central Illinois
It is Darmstat soil with a high sodium subsoil.
There is no drainage tile.
It has eroded areas where there is no topsoil.
The eroded areas are what I want to target.
The PH averages I think it was about 6.1
I had planned on applying lime in 3 years after the next soil test.
I have been told the Gypsum would release some of the sodium and make the clay more manageable.
I have also been told it would release some of the potash.
I hope that would not be too big of an issue.
Should I do the whole field or just the eroded areas?
I have been told without drainage tile there would be limited benefit.
I have not found a local source yet in Illinois.
