Near-north Ontario, French River | Times are changing, even on our farm the level of physical labour required to plant and harvest a crop has been greatly reduced in the last 20 years. Much of what used to be hand labour or back breaking labour is now accomplished with machinery. Heck look at tractors these days, they drive themselves LOL Ya I know there are productivity gains to be had with autosteer, but one of the common reasons given for adopting autosteer is to reduce work load on the tractor operator. Come on now, how much work load is there for a tractor operator thats running a field cultivator or disc? Turn the wheel on the headlands and pull a lever/push a button every once and while to lift or drop the implement. Livestock guys are about the only ones that work day in and day out , year round and even some of their jobs are being replaced by robots ( milkers/ feeders etc) |
