Sounds like the price of land is a sore spot all over. In our area there is one business man buying 500 plus acres a year. He made his money honestly and you can't really fault him for wanting to keep it buy investing it. He isn't making to many friends in the area but he still pays his taxes and he is usally hiring the guy that farmed it last to custom farm it for him. As for the price of the ground, it's anywhere for 5000 to 6500 per acre.
