Subject: Re: When is it too dry to plant

Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
I stopped,,,,,,,,,, I had enough down pressure to smash a penny and my gauge wheels set at the 2 inch mark and had at least a 1/2 inch play (I like for my guage wheels to spin with a little resitance but have no up-down play , that mean I have good depth conrol but still have a little sidewall soil lift and no compaction.) then I hit a rock and broke a unit half way off because of all the down pressure, then I went and checked another field that had good moisture when I planted it, and the radicle root was out on all the seed but the ground was now powder dry in the trench at the 2 inch mark, ((this is all notill ground that usually has great capilary action and always has water just under the surface.)) so I did what I should have done 3 days ago and stopped.
