Its a regional thing. Wheat, corn, and grain sorghum have shown yield responses to Cl in the western plains states. No one here (in SWND) applies potash for the K, as our soils are naturaly high in K. I would guess that since you are so close to the sea, that you are getting plenty of Cl in your rain water. In KS it was found that irrigation water also had plenty of Cl. If we have a Cl deficiency (mostly on light to medium soils), then 10-20 lbs/A of potash is usually enough to supply the crop.
