Subject: RE: soybean breeding

SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
I like how he says soybean breeding is a numbers game. I beleive Harry Stine quoted that many many years ago and so far noone does more "numbers" then Harry.
I my world public beans are dead, maybe less then .05% of the sales in my area.Private lines took over back in the 80's.WHY ??? Breeding soybeans is a numbers game, while public researchers do a good job with the money they have ,they can't even begin to compete with Stine ,monsanto or pioneer , not in the group 1 's and 2's anyway.
The FIRST company to use SA seed to speed up variety development was Stine.
