PatH We were down your way on Tues, going to Birkey's pancake b-fast. Good food! Anyway, are you saying you haven't done your own tests in beans? The "no-brainer" in beans is a head scratcher for us. We're really only a few mis from you. What would the "go, no-go" criteria be? We took a 160A field of beans in '09 & sprayed 80A of them cross-wise to the rows (airplane) w/fungicide/insecticide combo. Again, they were sprayed cross-wise to the normal planting/harvesting row direction. The result was a +3.0 bu/A. Actually, we did not see any change in crop maturing or grain moisture @ harvest. Aphids never were a factor in our area in '09. So, if one could always count on +3.0 bus in beans, is that worth the risk? Also, I know we're heavily criticized for over-using glyphosate & for even "considering" 100% Bt acres, so will use of insecticides & fungicides on seemingly non-infested crops lead to any type of long-term problems w/resistance? I don't know...just asking.
