Its not a big job to pull the PTO. While it is off, the clutches should be checked for minimum thickness and O'rings R&R as there is a lot of heat in the PTO assembly. A good indication of the clutches and o'rings being worn is slow engagement and/or a lot of clutch material in the spin on filter. The shaft that the tech is talking about is $$$$. We've not had a problem with the shaft yet, and have been too hard on PTOs=wet stem beans and down corn.
