Palestine, IL 62451 | On my 1440 and 1660 when it started leaking, local mechanic said might as well pull it off and replace hub and I believe the shaft (I guess to him it is a tell tell sign). We took it out in my shop with o.h. crane. Make sure you put a board under the engine on that end as the pto gearbox holds it up. IMO it would be alot easier to take off the gearbox than remove the engine. I believe you can open the top (4 bolts I believe) and maybe inspect it some. I hope this is of some help. | |
