Subject: Re: Headline on corn plot

I asked a company agronomist (applicator company, not seed or fungicide maker) why the big increase for some hybrids one year and he said, "We call that number a magnet for gray leaf spot." My new tenant believes fungi resistance is an important factor in his seed selection hoping to avoid that problem, though the fields this year do show lots of everything because of it being cool and wet.

The first announcement at an elevator grower meeting about fungicide admitted some times it caused a yield loss. Today the fungicide makers tend to forget that in their advertisements, but this plot clearly shows its still a factor to consider.
