And I agree with you. Most people that are otherwise healthy would do great on 100-120 grams carbs a day.

For me to completely control my diabetes type II, I on the other hand have to get my carbs lower so my insulin levels stay low enough because of my insulin resistance.

One size does not need to fit all.

Low insulin is required to utilize body fat. So some people who are insulin resistant may also need lower carbs so insulin levels get lower to burn body fat.

Insulin levels are the key for the body utilization of fat for fuel. High insulin levels = store fat, not burn it. Low carbs can lower insulin. Or low enough calories can. The difference is satiety. On low carb wife and I eat all we want. On failed Weight Watchers she always felt like she was starving.

Satiety matters. Hunger always eventually wins. Low carb = not hungry. Low calories but higher carb = hungry and wanting to snack all the time (raising insulin constantly exacerbating the problem).
