Bought my house in '97. Water heater was probably about a year old. Started leaking 5yrs later. Put new one in. That one I had to replaced shorted out elements and thermostats. It too started leaking at about 6yrs. Next water heater I went for the 10yr warrantee one hoping it would last longer. So far its at I think 12yrs. but probably should get replaced soon. Had to replace the relief valve on it a few years ago. I think the drain valve is seeping a hair too.
