The original General Electric water heater in my house lasted over 50 years.

On the same water, the replacement A. O. Smith heater is leaking and blowing fuses at 5 years.

This is nuts. Every house appliance fails now in short order and it is grossly uneconomical to replace them with the same junk over and over.

Any suggestions for a brand name of electric water heater that will have a life expectancy like the old General Electric? Or are they a thing of the past?

I have a plastic Marathon water heater that is controlled by the electric co-op on peak electric days. Over 30 years old. No issues.
