I don't remember anyone saying that one shot or even 2 were going to be the final solution.
i think there had not been enough time to asses how long resistance to Covid would last.

Yes few seem to remember how many shots other vaccines took to become effective or how long it took for them to whittle the disease down to a low level.

then the misinformation group jump on the breakthrough infections to say the vaccines are no good instead of looking at the numbers of unvaccinated compared to those who are vaccinated.

I remember going multiple times to get vaccinations when I was in school.
Because our parents (and we too since I have cousins who have lived with the effect of polio) did not complain about a new fangled solution that would give their children protection.

Those were for diseases that had been around a long time.
Covid is new to humans and required quick action to bring it under control and we were lucky that mRNA vaccine technology had been under development and testing for many years and could be easily redirected to protect from the new virus.
