| Most of the off-the-chart land sales have been purchased by farmers. I think the investors are still there to support this market but at some point they just decide the returns aren’t sufficient.
I anticipate that something will impact the land market in a negative way in the next few years but it could go up substantially from here before that happens. Right now it seems that land is selling at irrational prices to my way of figuring their value.
Myself, I’m not going to buy any land that doesn’t meet my criteria unless it adjoins the home farm or some highly desirable piece. But I’m at the age that I don’t really need to expand and take on more work/risk. | |
