If you want it and can afford it, buy it. If you had known in 2013 that land prices had peaked, would you have sold your land and waited to buy different land now? My point being most of us are attached to the land we have, it's value isn't really important. If a piece of land that works for your operation comes up for sale, and you can afford it, buy it. Land prices may climb a ton higher or may collapse.

I joined the dairy in 1998. Land prices started climbing here around 2000. It was around $1000 an acre, and shot up to 1500. I bought my first land at $1500, and we bid some up a little higher. A couple year later a 60 acre chunk with a house came up. I could have lived in the house, but my family I farmed with (dad and uncle) said it was too high and would come down or was just too much (don't really remember). Neighbor bought it, sold off the house, kept the few acres that border his land on the other side of the road, dug a wetland scrape in the middle, then sold that off. Made a really good profit for a couple years ownership. Point being buy when you can. If it comes up for sale again, it may be a lot more money and look a lot different.
