I know friends and family that farm in various parts of the state. Generally those that were expecting poor crops are getting much better than expected. That might still be a bit below APH but I have yet to hear of very poor yields except for the one certain poster on here and quite frankly I am not sure that much of what he says is fact. But it is humorous. Glad your yields are better than you thought. Those cool August temps really helped grain fill. I think the bean number for Illinois will be going up based on what I see and hear.

Yes I'm becoming a little concerned with Tuesday's WASDE report. Not just the IL numbers, but the yields I read on this site from the NW belt seem pretty decent overall. Very difficult to discern that, though.

Just 3 weeks ago I was thinking the other way, based on some early yields I'd heard, including several comparatively well drained bean fields that were a shock... I still am not certain what the reason is/was, but thinking at this point it was just less than full season beans planted early and they ran out of gas at the wrong time when we were on the dry side. Also some early corn yields from central IL were disappointing, but seemed to have increased as harvest progressed.
