Subject: RE: Fork in the road.....

Black Hawk County, IA
Zack, my dad told me something a long long time ago. “Unless your name is at the top of the check, and the bottom of the check, you never know what’s going to happen next”. I worked in town for awhile and it was ok, but I had the bug to see if I could make things happen. It’s been a good thing for me, made a lot of sacrifices that some others wouldn’t have, but was my choice. Another sharp neighbor told me to “get after it while you’re young, that way if it goes in the crapper, you have time to recover”. I started on my own at 21 when my father died. Borrowed money for a farm when I was 24 from a banker I went to church with. You’re a bit older than I was then, but apparently have access to more rented ground than I did, or was willing to pay rent on. I’ve done a lot of custom work, and ran 2 other side businesses the whole time, they provided cash flow. That’s what the banks like, and positive equity growth. Only you can decide, I’ve crashed and burned a couple times, but that goes with being in business. It sounds like you have a wife that’s on board, big plus right there. If you think you can do it, or you think you can’t, either way you’re right. Good luck, J
