Western-Central Lower Michigan | Oh boy, one of my all time best stops down there was Ashville N. C. Go to the Biltmore Estate https://www.biltmore.com/help-center/directions-and-parking/
Its a couple hours from Gatlinburg, but we drove up the mountain near Gatlinburg, (on top of old smokey!) some good look out vistas, (actually ran into a next door neighbor there.... Anyway, went to Ashville, N.C. and yes its going to cost some $ but if they are giving tours, its worth every penny.
