New Castle, PA | Lots to do and see in Holmes county , Ohio ( Mennonite , Amish area). Excellent food at every turn ,many very nice places to stay, we like the Berlin Grande hotel but there are others including bed and breakfasts . Make sure you see the worlds largest coo-coo clock in Sugarcreek as well as the worlds largest lumberyard in Charm (yea , I know lumberyard on vacation? just go , you will be amazed) Lots of shopping around Berlin as well as many cheese factories . Lehmans hardware in Kidron, a non -electric hardware store, several livestock auctions in the area as well. The J. M. Smucker Co. has a company store in Orrville, when we go there, I have to use chain blocks to get my wife back out the door, she loves the place. Just keep in mind that it is an Amish and Mennonite dominated area so very little happens on Sunday. We have some very good friends in the area and we visit there a couple times a year. | |
