That rule went into effect here in Texas July 3 I think. My county is exempt because we have less than 20 active cases but I went to Amarillo on Thursday, every establishment I went to had “mask required” signs prominently displayed out front but inside I would guess that 1/3 to 1/2 of the customers were not wearing a mask and nobody seemed to mind....
That’s what it was like here a few weeks ago. Masks were technically required, but law enforcement said they had better things to patrol and people pretty much wore masks as they saw fit.
Fast forward to now, it’s a $10,000 L&I fine for the business if they serve someone without a mask. We all know L&I has no hesitation to levy fines. Now suddenly every unwilling employee is the governors minion enforcing the decree. Employees hate it, customers hate it, masks still aren’t worn correctly, but everyone hates everyone and everything and we are so much better off.***
