| First of all you must recognize that evil exists in our world in many forms in addition to our own selfish nature.
Some people are content just to live their lives, minding their own business trying to do what's right by their fellow man.
There is a faction of people, always has been since the beginning of time that desire money , power, fame etc and will use any means necessary to get it. These are narcissists. A narcissist desires to control people at all levels. Our government is filled with narcissist. Why ?you may ask, its because who they are.
If you can control peoples behavior, spending habits etc, you can try to create the society you desire. Study Lenin, Stalin. Marx, all thought they could bring about Utopia by controlling every aspect of people lives. Ended up killing millions of their own people. People desire to be free, there is no Utopia. Look at the big cities controlled by liberal democrats. What have they done to help those cities? Nothing but they remain in control.
Sounds rather simplistic, but some people just plain want to control the rest of us for their own fame , greed and power. There is a tremendous amount of money at stake if you can control what people buy and where they buy it. Some just want it all
