The problem is the economy is life and your honestly ignorant if you do not believe that. Look at what happened in the 80s. People killing themselves/loved ones/bankers because they could not repay loans. If people are backed into a corner they do foolish things which unfortunately can mean taking their lives.

Look at the amount of suicides going on in farm country currently because of the farm economy. We just jumped to 3.3 million people unemployed, you don't think that is going to affect someone mentally that had a good job and was able to support everyone in their life to not having a job 2 weeks later?
