| Diversifying while still maintaining a major portion of the investment in what I know (farming) has worked well for me. Investing in index funds (they follow a market automatically without a manager - for example s&p, nasdaq, a certain industry, etc) saves a lot of management fees and pays off big over time.
Roth IRAs are a great way to go especially if in a mid to lower tax bracket and/or you are young. They are withdrawn after 59 1/2 years of age tax free. My personal opinion is the way this country is going we will have higher tax brackets in several years.
Also, I believe for what its worth if one declares bankruptcy your iras cannot be liquidated... I think???
I would encourage diversification, starting with index funds in a roth ira.
