Mid Michigan | A friend of mine just did it. Not a farmer, a factory worker. Was in his early fifties, girlfriend broke up with him this year, had a drinking problem, was divorced about 10 years ago, lost most of his retirement and 401k in 2008, never recovered financially or mentally, recently got two dui's and lost his job, was facing a difficult transfer on his current job, wrecked his vehicle and had another repo'd, was having some health problems and had huge amount of medical bills and debt. Just threw in the towel one day. Must have felt very overwhelmed by it all. Life can get too difficult sometimes and people give up. His parents were very wealthy but it wasn't doing him any good. They were also getting old and he was facing taking care of them by himself and recently told me he was overwhelmed with the thought of that alone. | |
