I am a cow calf farmer living in middle of cow calf country in central missouri. I believe you have a great resourse with winter grazing corn stalk crop residue. One thing to remember with cows is that they need to do as much of the work as possible. When you are hauling feed to them it is costing money and when they are grazing you are saving money. If you can figure out a way to extend your grazing season with either more pasture or grazing water ways and other uncropable land I think cows have the potential to help your farming opperation. I really don't think dryloting cows on very limited pasture can be economically feasable, cows really need to be grazing to be profitable.
