Could you calve them out on your pasture at home then move the pairs to some rougher country like southern IA or Missouri for the summer then bring them back to graze the stalks and calve out again? A guy does that here, he hauls them 60 miles north or so on some pasture ground and then overwinters and calves them out at home then takes them back up north when the grass greens up again. He goes and checks on them every 3-4 days.
