Jersey Shore, PA | Sounds like a real pain in the a##. I feel your pain though. Last year we had a lot of down corn. Result was picking up root balls and plugging the underside of that sensor plate w/dirt. Readings were waaaay off. Took a while to figure it out. Cleaned that thing out a couple of times, but finally just said the heck with it. Another year we had a different issue that was deeres fault. Again..........useless data. Overall though I find those maps very useful and fairly trouble free to create. This year I would calibrate before starting a new crop and it would pretty well stay right on. Switch back to another crop, recal, and go. Same w/ the moisture. Although it's more of a piece of junk, IMO, once I knew the adjustment number for each crop, it stayed fairly consistent.
If you can figure it out cheaply and easily I would definately recommend doing so. Once you get good data its a nice thing to have.
