What farmer would ever say the insurance part of the farm bill is fubar when a very high percentage of farmers will be collecting 6 and 7 figure insurance checks this year! Everyone wants to claim they believe in capitalism until the social programs become available to them, then they can justify just about anything. I think the people are as fubar as the system is.
For the record, I have never participated in the insurance program, except for one year when it was mandatory. I do know of several young farmers that were saved from losing their farms by the insurance program, they claimed. I had half ground in bottoms subject to flooding, half on prarie, numbers never did work for me. |
