Beresford, SD | Are the dairies and feedlots of the southern plains in -15 F blizzard type wind chills? Having been down there a few times.....the shelters are just shades, there are no sand stalls inside a barn, no heat or insulation in the parlors, most water lines aren’t buried very deep! I guarantee you the mega feedlots don’t have bedding stockpiled or the processors to spread it. Additionally the cattle on feed have thinner hides than northern stock. Not to mention most of the area effected is in the middle of calving season, losses could get disastrous. Hope everyone fairs well, but this could end badly for some. Market reaction could get exciting. | |
