I feel for you guys, even in the north where its cold and we are prepared, the unexpected happens. Sometimes a person has to go through plans A to Z, sometimes there is no plan and you can only watch and hope for the best. If your water is frozen and you have snow, your cows will eat snow if there are no other options. If you are short on hay and you have energy sources available, cottonseed, corn, wheat, give them a few lbs a day, it will them help keep warm. We have had high winds and extreme storms late in the spring where calving cows drop calves in the cow huddle where they stand, there are no other options to put the cows nor to save the Calves. We have gone around after the snow melts in an extreme spring blizzard and found dead calves in wallows where they tried to to find shelter during the storm. After it all blows over you pick up the pieces and carry on. The animals are pretty resilient, as long as they have shelter, and some kind of moisture, a few days at -15 is not going to be the end of the world for them. Crossing my fingers this doesn't last long for you all.
