Northeast Nebraska | In my opinion the small guys are getting pushed out. Medium guys are buying coop units and then end up selling out to maschoffs and packers etc...the unit we were in sold a couple years ago by majority vote. Older guys are shot from pigs and not a lot of younger ones dont want to do that work. Just remember if the packer is owning the hogs and you own your own, it's pretty easy for the packer to not buy yours so your at their mercy. I think the industry is going through some changes right now. Who knows if the packer owning them is going to work out that great either. | |
