I appreciate the honest feedback puff. And I agree with a lot of your points. It is the segment I am most comfortable with and that's a big reason why I think I want to try it. Another one is i need cows to stock this land anyways and everyone is saying they are gonna get cheaper. My thoughts are I'd rather be stuck with these bred good heifers than steers that can only get so fat I can always calve the heifers out.

My breeding costs would be pretty low I do my own AI work or my good buddy does it for a 12 pack and I get a really good deal on anything in the ABS book we trade each other work. I do raise some of my own yearling Bulls that would be used so that would cut some cost there.

I really think 850 or 900 lb heifers will be $1 to 1.15 a lb in the fall but that is just a guess who really knows. Your right about zeros drowning the profits out. My bred heifers I retained this year bred at 93% these were homegrown girls Aied then bull turned in for 75 days
