The really crazy thin is guys are bidding 300 for sub 200bu corn ground. This is ground that if everything goes perfect can produce 200 but in an average year tops out in the 170 range...and in a poor year may not make 100. In RedOak's area it not uncommon to be working with only 6-8inches of clay topsoil, this isn't like the Midwest corn belt where guys might have 2-3 feet of rich topsoil.
