| Month ago I had the opportunity to bid on a 200@ cash rent farm that's been 50/50. Didn't pencil out in my favor nor did I like the terms of the lease. Farm manager couldn't believe I didn't even want to make a bid and got a little crappy about it. Walked away from it and ain't looking back. Was approached today about cash renting some ground that's been being farmed by a BTO. I told the man as soon as he could provide me with a new set of gridded soil samples I would be happy to talk to him. Don't believe he'll be back. The point is that when responsible farmers walk away from overpriced inputs, inflated land and cash rent values, things will change but it's gonna take awhile. And I don't care one bit if the land investors wind up having to put their inflated land into crp. | |
