As far as consolidation compared to other ag industries; land base like someone mentioned above, and crop insurance are 2 major reasons that consolidation is happening so much slower in row crop ag. Insurance allows the little guys to take some risk, without insurance the risk would be too great and bigger operations that could spread out the risk would have an even bigger advantage.
Just thinking what if?
