they are bloodthirsty thieves.

What kind of break did you cut the ethanol plant or feedyard in the $8 corn days? They charge what the market will bear, just like we do. Unfortunately for us, this year, a dang bear ate our market!

How do we charge what the market will bear? The market tells us what the grain is worth. Lol.

As to the consolidation comments, someone mentioned above that if you don't have a land base you should get out yesterday. So you are saying just give up and let someone else take over? Should every business do that? Just help the big get bigger? If we allow all the companies in the country to continue to consolidate, eventually we will all be employees and slaves to the government. If it gets to the point that there is just 5 or so companies controlling all food production, the government will step in and take over. That is basically what has happened to the health insurance companies. They got to be so big and so few that uncle sam stepped in and said "this is the way you are going to do things".

As much as everyone dislikes inheritance tax (including myself), it was actually designed to keep one person or family from accumulating too much wealth. But due to loopholes, it has not worked. Just imagine if the family of a guy that owned 2000 acres had to pay 49% inheritance tax on every acre left to them. That would put basically 1000 acres on the market. (unless the family could afford cash for taxes) If it was that way with every single farm, there likely wouldn't be one single farmer able to afford to buy all 1000 acres. There would always be land available.

Wright or wrong, just my thoughts.
