Subject: Witching for ground water

SE NE
Is it a hoax? I've talked to several older neighbors and half say I absolutely have to witch before drilling and the other half say it's nonsense.

I didn't witch and have 2 dry holes to show for it. I'm thinking of trying a 3rd spot in the morning, but I don't want to keep throwing money into empty pits.

Everywhere around this place there is water. Here where our home place is it is a giant ridge of limestone, I have been trying on the east side of the ridge with no success, so I'm thinking about moving onto the west side of it. At one point the rock is at ground level then drops off 75' or so straight down to a creek. That is about 500 yards from where we tried it. Just south of the cliff the creek makes a big bend to the west, I'm thinking of trying to get on the west side of the rock cliff.

I'm sure this makes no sense, any geologists out there?
