Just about any crop will grow roots to tile. Shine a flashlight down the inside of a tile and all you see are roots hanging from the top. Its very minute and doesn't create an issue with plugging. The plugging begins with dips in the tile where there is constant water and the roots will grow and collect in that spot. Once a tile dries up, so do the roots and eventually die.
