I've raised a heck of a lot better wheat in the 90's/early 2000's from bin run seed (2-4 years saved) than anything I can buy today. No vomitoxin, no fungicide needed, good test weight, and higher yields back then. Wish I had continued to save some old wheat seed instead of falling for the newer better genetics crap!
