U may very well be right.
On a farm I own, with Ca, Mg, & PH lower then the OP's, and CEC slightly lower, I had 400# of 0-0-60 spread this fall. I aimed to get 1 ton of lime on per acre as well, but the tile man showed up before the lime trucks did. So that'll get done next year. With lower K prices I intent to have 200-300 more #'s of Potash spread in the spring with my Urea/AMS & Micros.
This is a farm I own. I am 31. I have many years to get my money back, or to pay back for my mistakes... However you want to look at it...
I also plan to have turkey Litter spread on this farm to help on long term P and micro buildup...
No way will it ever pay to spread above crop uptake rates for K.
I know, never say never, but I think it fits here. Crop uptake rates are still pretty high.
ETA: I guess that IS crop uptake rate for 300 bpa corn. Dang. That's a lot of K.
