| Everything worked fine. Windows recognized the additional processors and loaded the drivers. They do run faster, but I'm interested to see what the ssd's do for it. Btw, no extra parts and the folks who design laptop cases all have brother in laws in the machine screw business - there are lots.
A couple of notes:
1. this was an amd to amd swap and perhaps in the laptop world the socket size and type is slower to change. It fit right in
2. the new processor seems to create plenty of heat, but I've ran one all night with no issues - I really don't know how hot it ran before unfortunately.
3. It's possible that in this case of acer that my model 5532 was made for longer than just 6 months and it's possible the motherboard lived beyond that (bios is 2010 with no further upgrades available). so this might be a special case. | |
