I'd suggest verifying that the ACER bios will support that newer CPU. Vendors such as DELL, ACER, etc. often times code in their bios which CPU's they will support and if it is too new, it might not work properly. I'd guess checking google for the model of the laptop and the cpu you want to upgrade to to find stories of failures and or successes.
