Various drive makers offer free software if you're using their drives with it. WD offers a free version of Acronis. There are also free alternatives that work with all drives. Things usually go smoothly for me. Clone it over, swap drives, reboot, and voilĂ you're done. I've redone a couple and I can't recommend an SSD highly enough in a laptop despite the expense. Better battery life, more durable, and insanely faster boot times. Even a new 7200rpm drive is a noticeable speed upgrade over a 5400rpm or slower laptop drive. Clone, defrag, and go. | |
