I've wondered how it would be to keep a cow/calf pair in a drylot all summer. I have a lot of cropland that would be better suited to raisin hay/grass than corn/beans, but there are no fences and no water source so it would take a lot to convert to pasture.
In a drylot, would the cows get fat and out of shape? I do like the idea of less fence to maintain.
