Comparing this to the attacks in New york does not hold water.
According to news so far it was 1 person with a relatively small firearm who killed one person and injured 2 or 3 others relatively lightly
And indications are he has a criminal record with previous convictions for violence.
It was a mentally imbalance person copying the mentally ill person who ran down a couple people in Quebec.
There were more Canadians killed in the New York attacks than all the death and injuries today in Ottawa.
And yes it is something that happens far too often in other countries.
I think I read somewhere that the US media does not bother reporting shootings with only a few killed.
I agree with most of that except for where you called them mentally ill and used it as a justification. They may be mentally ill, but they both had connections to radical religion. Both were also on the watch list of CSIS.
The thing I find troubling though, is how far one person got. I shudder to think what would have happened if it had been a planned assault by 5 or 10 people. |
