North of London
I think you will find it was under Islam that the great knowledge base in the mid east was developed.
The church itself encouraged learning and the accumulation of knowledge from around the world.
The Islamic churches financed much of the work that was done in transcribing and storing the knowledge.
At that time there was, maybe still is, a statement in Islam religious studies about a scholar being worth more than a martyr.

This at a time when Europe was under christian influence and lagged greatly in knowledge and education.
Some of the 'breakthroughs' in medical knowledge and mathematics in Europe in the 17-1800.s was just a transfer of knowledge from what Islam had accumulated for hundreds of years.
Some have said Islam saved a great deal of knowledge while Europe suffered through the Dark Ages.

So it was not the introduction of Islam but maybe the introduction of a new style of Isalm in more recent times that is the problem.

That is the problem with religious 'believers' that think what they 'believe' is the ultimate answer and no further study or questioning of their 'beliefs' is allowed.

Many, if not all, religions have periods in their history where killing others who did not believe like them was advocated.
